This is the first of a series where I feature creative ways restaurants have pivoted their sales including pantry essentials, meal kits, produce boxes, gourmet items, and all-around useful purchases that prevent you from having to go to the store during shelter-in-place as well as mix up your weekly routine.
The Dogpatch has many delightful restaurants I love to support. I don’t know what I would do without them so please join me in helping drive revenue to these businesses by perusing the following purchases available.
Serpentine
First, I was buying their cocktails and by-the-piece cookie dough but quickly added a large produce box and a gourmet essentials kit to restock my kitchen with specialty ingredients. Their online store also includes a full range of liquor, beer, and wine inventory – including bloody mary kits and white claw! This is all in addition to their ready to heat meals. NOTE: You must order online. No walk-up orders.
Daily Driver
Beyond their usual bagel, dairy, and assorted breads, Daily Driver has been offering meal kits and pantry packages such as a Baker’s Essentials Kit, cheese boards, cookie dough, and a rotating selection of meal kits for pickup or Doordash delivery (this week it’s a burger meal kit!). Two weeks back they had a snack kit with potato chips and dip, popcorn with sweet and savory toppings, and pretzels which was much appreciated. Note: Walk-up orders are OKAY, but they’re cashless.
Goat Hill Pizza
I hosted a pizza party on zoom (video coming soon) and as a backup to my sourdough starter pizza crust recipe, I called Goat Hill to procure some pizza dough, sauce, and toppings. To my surprise, you can order dough in all pizza sizes (S, M, L, & XL) and it comes partially stretched and covered in cornmeal – an essential step for preventing the dough from sticking. Note: you cannot order pizza ingredients online but you can call and provide CC for take out. No walk-up orders and delivery status for these items unknown.
Wine House
While not a unique offering, I can’t help but give a shoutout to my wine store, The Wine House, that is now offering curbside pickup and delivery in SF. Their more-affordable French wine stock is dwindling, but they’re working with California distributors to ensure a rolling supply of wines <$150/case. Mixed cases are available but require a few hours for pickup. Because they are an importer and don’t rely on distributors, you simply can’t get better deals for their European selection.
Just For You
If you need some baked goods, Just For You has started offering a host of items that you can pick up at the same time as your lunch and/or mimosas.
Neighbor Bakehouse
A perfect example of the challenges of supply and demand, it is difficult to get an order in at this bakery with once a week preorders available for purchase on Wednesdays at noon for pickup on Saturday – It often sells out within an hour! Items include croissants, cookie bags, sweet and savory pastry boxes among other rotating treats.
Ungrafted
To find out what Ungrafted has to offer, check their Instagram stories regularly. They are open 2-5 PM Tuesday through Sunday and are offering delicious food to go but also still conducting wine classes where they deliver the wine in advance. Their retail shop is open for in-store pickups too. Undeniably my favorite restaurant/wine bar in the neighborhood, if you’re looking for something fancy to take your mind off of the current situation they can help. Often, they have whole packages that support other businesses in the area, too!
In Conclusion,
Please, check out these great and unique culinary offerings in the Dogpatch. Now that Shelter in Place has been extended until the end of May, you can expect a new neighborhood to be featured every week!
Stay safe and healthy,
Katie
