Experience:

  • MPH in Environmental Health Science & Policy with coursework in EPA & FDA risk assessment and human health impacts from climate change.
  • Organized annual seminar in Risk Science by the Center for Risk Science and Public Health.
  • Interned for sustainable agriculture advocacy group during the Food Safety Modernization Act rulemaking.
  • Wrote a walking tour for a LEED-platinum building highlighting features that minimized indoor air pollution, reduced energy inputs, and prevented flooding into nearby rivers.

Sustainability and Diet – A Linkage Whose Time Has Come – National Sustainable Agriculture Coalition

Since the Dietary Guidelines Advisory Committee (DGAC) report was released last week, controversy has erupted over the DGAC recommendations for the Dietary Guidelines for Americans, 2015. The controversies are many, but the loudest has been whether the dietary guidelines should take sustainability into account.
